Fancy a Somerset tipple? 10/06/2015, Producers

What a gorgeous day today! And the forecast for Bristol and Bath is more of the same with temperatures soaring early next week. It's time to load that fridge with the finest selection of Somerset ciders this side of Crewkerne. Arrange your fresh-range delivery today to enjoy the finest selection of local food and drink at great prices.

Did you know that just like the French have terroirs for wines and certain spirits, Somerset has three recognised areas where the conditions for growing apples are deemed to be exceptional? Julian Temperley and Tim Stoddart have over 50 years of cider-making experience between them slap bang in the middle of one such terroir. They produce the exquisite range of Burrow Hill Ciders sourced mainly from their own orchards near Martock and we have them all here for you to try.

At Burrow Hill, it is obvious that apples are the principal starting point for their cider with more than 40 varieties being grown such as Brown Snout, Stoke Red, Harry Masters and the legendary Kingston Black. All the apples in the cider come from Somerset, and the vast majority come from Burrow Hill’s own orchards.

Visiting the farm (which is a must-do day out), you feel like you’ve stepped into a vintage world of cider. We have to say that Julian doesn't half deliver a great tour of the farm and his rustic timber press. Here he is in front of a few tons of harvest enjoying a glass of ice cider on our last trip...
