The Story Organic Somerset

Since taking on Heron’s Green Farm overlooking Chew Valley Lake in Somerset, Luke Hasell has won accolades with The Story Organic Meats. As a BBC Food and Farming Awards' Outstanding Farmer of the Year finalist and Soil Association Gold Award winner, Luke’s The Story Organic produce traditionally hung 100% pasture fed organic meat that is tender with a delicious depth in flavour. His beef is dry aged for 30 days.

We asked Luke to tell us the secrets behind his success: "We have always believed in the mantra "Better for the Animals, Better for Us". All of our beef, chicken, lamb and pork are Soil Association certified meaning that they are reared ethically and organically. Our cattle are fed only natural grass diets and we keep only traditional breeds like North and South Devon cattle. All of our cattle are free to roam and graze the lush green pastures around Chew Magna and are slaughtered at an ethical abattoir very close to our farm. We aim to be as sustainable as possible, carefully managing our land to enhance the environment for future generations. Our Organic Chicken is supplied to The Story by their friends at Lowerstock Breeders. The Organic Lamb is supplied by Mark Heal at Sidcot Farm. The Organic Pork is supplied by The Community Farm."
