Island Bakery United Kingdom

Joe and Dawn Reade began a bakery business from converted garage on the Scottish island back in 1996, but it wasn’t until 2001 that they began to bake their organic biscuits. In 2013, the baking was moved to new purpose built premises just next door.

 

Island Bakery generates all its own electricity from renewable sources – wind and water, which are abundant on our Scottish island! Their biscuits bake gently in ovens that are heated with island grown, sustainable woodchip. "Great tasting biscuits are our number one priority, but our environmental credentials are very important to us too. That’s why we are organic. And why we go further than most to reduce our impact on the environment."

Their Lemon Melts were voted the Nation’s Favourite Organic product, and the Best Scottish Organic Produce at recent BOOM (Best of Organic Market) Awards.
